Samuel S. Kim, Ph.D., C.Psych (Supervised Practice)

Clinical Psychologist (Supervised Practice) & Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Biography

I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Determinants of Child Development Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Calgary. My research examines how early life environmental risk factors and interpersonal relationships (e.g., with caregivers, peers, teachers) throughout development jointly shape adolescent bullying and socio-emotional development, using longitudinal approaches. My research work is co-supervised by Dr. Sheri Madigan, Ph.D., R.Psych., and Dr. Nicole Racine, Ph.D., C.Psych (University of Ottawa).

I also work as a Clinical Psychologist (Supervised Practice) who provides therapy and assessment services to children, adolescents, and families in a private practice setting (in-person and virtually). I also provide parenting support to parents with children who experience mental health difficulties and neurodivergence. I currently practice out of Young Minds Psychology Clinic in North York, Ontario, Canada. I completed my clinical residency at the Toronto Area Residency Consortium (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at University of Toronto). I have previously worked at the Toronto Catholic District School Board, The Family Psychology Centre, The Child and Adolescent Psychology Centre, Hotel Dieu Hospital, Queen's University Student Wellness Services, Queen's University Psychology Clinic, Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, and the Maple Family Health Team.

I completed by PhD in Clinical Psychology at Queen's University, in Kingston, Ontario, under the supervision of Dr. Wendy Craig in the Bully Lab. My research has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
